Stripe, creating Coupons

Now you have your Stipe account set up you are able to add coupons offering free or discounted access.

Once in your Stripe Dashboard open the Products page.

  • Click Coupons.
  • Click +New.

In the Create a coupon pop-up, as the image below, enter the coupon’s details.

  • Give the coupon a name.
    • This is going to be the code that is shared and inserted when redeemed.
    • This name can be made up of letters and numbers.
    • The ID is not optional.
      • Even though Stripe recommends leaving the ID blank, fill in the ID with the same coupon name. This is mandatory!
  • Select the type of discount, usually a percentage discount.
    • Leave the toggle off for ‘Apply to specific products’.
    • Decide on the duration of the coupon.
      • Duration means the amount of time in months that the discount is applied.
        • As an examples;
          • Coupon ONE offer 100% for 1 month
          • Coupon TWO offer 50% for 2 months
  • Consider setting redemption limits.
    • The first option is to limit by which date the coupon must be used.
    • This setting is optional, but can be good practice to implement to insure coupons are not redeemable forever.
  • Consider setting how many times this coupon can be redeemed.
    • This option is optional, but good practice to set so you have control of how many times a particular coupon can be used.
  • Click “Create coupon“ to add it to the list!
